Portfolio companies

What you hold, what it cost, what it is worth, and how each one is actually doing.

Each holding carries the investment history, the ownership, the current valuation and the operating figures the company reports.

Cost against carrying value is the headline. Underneath it, the operating numbers are what tell you whether the carrying value is defensible.

How to work this page

Record each round you participated in

Date, amount, instrument and resulting ownership. Ownership changes with every subsequent round whether you participate or not.

Update valuations with their basis

Last round price, a mark, or a model. The basis is recorded because a valuation without one cannot be defended.

Collect operating figures on a cadence

Revenue, burn and runway per company. A portfolio company that stops reporting is itself information.

Read concentration

Value concentrated in one or two holdings is the normal shape of a portfolio and the number worth knowing precisely.

Every figure from the desktop appears here, stacked rather than reduced. Tables scroll inside themselves so the page never moves sideways, and figures keep their separators and their alignment at every width.

Questions people actually ask

How is dilution handled?

Each new round recalculates ownership from the resulting cap table. Your percentage moves without you doing anything, and the page shows the movement.

What about a write-off?

Carried at zero with the date and the reason. It stays in the record because portfolio performance including failures is the only honest measure.
