Amazon does not pay you per order. It pays a settlement every two weeks that nets orders against referral fees, fulfilment fees, storage, returns and adjustments. Sellers routinely read the deposit as revenue, which overstates the top line and hides the real margin.
Both sides come across: the orders, and the settlement that pays for them. What Amazon kept is visible as its own number rather than buried in a net figure.
